Christmas 2009 has again seen Michael musically directing a pantomime for Paul Holman Associates. Following on from last years’ successful run at Broxbourne, Michael has returned this year to the Palace Theatre at Redditch, after the theatre once again asked him to return.
This years’ show, Jack And The Beanstalk, includes Jeffrey Holland (Hi De Hi), Jake Maskall (Eastenders), Judy Buxton (On The Up) and Andy Steed (The X Factor).
Once again Michael is working with drummer and percussionist Benjamin Burton, and producing the excellent quality backing tracks that he is renowned for, to songs this year including Fame, Bad (Michael Jackson), Bonkers (Dizzee Rascal) and Find Your Grail (Spamalot) to name but a few.
When Redditch Palace Youth Theatre decided to embark upon their first musical production they needed a capable musical director who could both teach and inspire the young performers, and so they turned to Michael.

When Redditch Palace Youth Theatre decided to embark upon their first musical production they needed a capable musical director who could both teach and inspire the young performers, and so they turned to Michael.
Over a period of just over two months Michael taught the songs (and a little vocal technique) to the cast, many of whom had never sung before in a production. In that short period of time the cast mastered the many musical numbers of Animal Farm, and finally performed them admirably over the course of the three shows, accompanied solely by Michael.
No doubt this will not be the Palace Youth Theatre’s last foray into musical theatre, and it’s unlikely to be Michael’s last time working with the Palace Youth Theatre.
Michael and Carnival Messiah creator and director Geraldine Connor have teamed up once again to co-compose the music for the opening ceremony of the 2009 GB Special Olympics.

Michael and Carnival Messiah creator and director Geraldine Connor have teamed up once again to co-compose the music for the opening ceremony of the 2009 GB Special Olympics.
The 2009 Special Olympics will be held in Leicester, with the opening ceremony taking place at the Walkers’ Stadium on 27th July 2009. Well known carnival costume designer Clary Salandy of Mahogany Arts has been commissioned to create the performance centrepiece of the ceremony, and commissioned Michael and Geraldine to compose and record a 25 minute soundscape to tell the story of ‘Onederland’.
